Experimental Study of Varying Heat Transfer Fluid Parameters within a Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage System Enhanced by Fins

Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) systems can be used to combat the limited collection and long-term of renewable sources. The key component an LHTES system is its phase change material (PCM), which thermally stores energy. Despite extensive research on conductivity enhancement within PCM, little attention has been paid transfer fluid (HTF) system. This study aimed observe impact variable HTF flow rates temperatures speed charging discharging enhanced with annular fins. Two copper fin configurations 10 20 fins were tested Rubitherm RT-55 PCM. during processes parameters 65 °C 70 at 1, 2, 3 gpm. Discharging 15 0.5, 1.5 response PCM temperature recorded throughout tests. results revealed that a higher rate produced shorter processing time, but furthermore, larger gradient between caused more significant decrease in times.
